I am not interested in interacting with the screen, I only want to share the host screen to my virtual machine.
Is any of them good for this?
I tried x11vnc with tigervnc client, and there’s some delay, and even though there’s some hate for vnc it still seems to be highly recommended. I feel like I am going all over the place with researching this, and my only solution is to try them all. There’s nothing online comparing them, or telling me that this is the best option I have. I mainly want to do this to share gameplay, it’s okay for it to be low quality or to have low frames, less delay (no latency) is what I really want.
I prefer if no internet was required or used, and if it didn’t require an account.
Check out RustDesk! It’s open-source and completely free to use. You can easily access devices directly over your local network using their IP addresses, and the best part is that you don’t need to create an account. If you’re using RustDesk just for a few devices on your local network without internet access, it works perfectly with direct IP access.
I avoided it initially because last I checked I had to manually install it in a somewhat complicated way, but that was back when I wasn’t familiar with Linux. I’ll try it since it seems to be the only option, nomachine sucks and seems to be the only other non-vnc option
Before this I also used broascast box+obs. Same result as running an nginx server. Better than vnc since it doesn’t need a tweak to stream audio, same delay, the con is having a browser open which takes more resources and browsers being hit or miss with the h264 plugin. Maybe I can get it to work eith ffmpeg
It didn’t work. Could be some issue specific to a virtual machine and a host machine, considering the network is nat and connected to my computer instead of a router
