Looking for a PDF software recommendation with all the essential features

I’ve been using Acrobat for a year, but since they’ve switched to a subscription-only model, I’m not keen on paying ongoing fees. I’d rather buy the software outright and own it.

As a regular single user on Windows, I need a PDF editor that covers the basics, like:

  • Adding custom signatures
  • Editing/writing with a stylus
  • OCR and file conversions
  • Highlighting, commenting, and annotating
  • Basic password protection
  • Merging, splitting, and inserting images

I’ve seen a few posts about UPDF, and its OCR feature looks pretty good. What would you recommend for someone like me who wants a simple, non-subscription PDF editor?

UPDF is a good choice, and Nitro PDF is another option to consider.

Both are pretty lousy with stylus support…

Here’s the all-in-one solution for your PDF needs and more… Plus, it’s totally free! Check out PDF Gear…

you can get this…Pdf Gear…

PDFGear doesn’t have stylus palm rejection, and touch scrolling is pretty choppy. Definitely not a good fit for OP’s workflow.

“PDF24” has everything you need in one toolkit…
