I lost a drive today with some pictures and documents that I didn’t back up. I’m usually good about backups, but I missed this one and now they’re gone.
So, is there software that can do RAID-style backups for specific folders rather than whole drives? Like, I want to specify my user folder on Windows, and have it automatically mirror any changes to my other HDD and my external drive. I’m sure something like this exists, but I’m not sure what to search for.
You’re overcomplicating it by asking for something “like RAID.” What you really need is just a second copy of the file. There are plenty of programs that can do this, like FreeFileSync, rsync, or robocopy.
No, RAID is exactly what I’m looking for, but file-specific across multiple drives, not just copying individual files. I want a localized RAID setup, not a 1-to-1 clone of my drives. I need a program that continuously monitors folder A for changes and duplicates those changes to folders B and C (and D when my external drive is plugged in). Just like RAID, but only for specific folders I choose.
Sorry, that is not RAID. That is just a file copier.
