Is there an easy way to sync subtitles accurately using VideoSubFinder?

I’m extracting subtitles from a 20-minute video, and about half of them are synced correctly, but the other half is off by about 1 frame. Is there an easy way to fix the sync?

use github…it’s a great tool for your needs

SubtitleSync works for me a lot of the time. But when it fails I use whisper to generate a new subtitle file from scratch.

If you’re judging the sync based on frame-perfect transitions matching video cuts, keep in mind that a lot of subtitle authors aren’t super strict about that, so it might not have been perfect from the start. Or if they were trying to “split the dissolve,” their idea of what’s correct might not match others’.

Plus, changes in frame rate or codec can sometimes cause slight errors, making the sync drift a bit at the cut points.

Adjust the timings in the .sub file (or whatever format it’s in). If the subtitles aren’t in a separate file, extract them first or just tweak them directly in your player.
