I have both a Gmail and a Proton email address and I’m trying to figure out which one would be better as my main email. I get that there might not be a clear-cut answer, but I’d appreciate some guidance. I use two email providers just in case something goes wrong with one of them or one of my accounts. What do you think about both providers, and which one is better to use as a primary and which as a secondary?
Totally dependent on how you use it.
Because we don’t want Google reading our emails, a lot of us utilise Proton. Gmail offers a lot more functionality.
Additionally, Proton charges you to use a third-party client, webmail alone.
It’s pretty unlikely that anything will go wrong with either Google or Proton. But if you want to be extra safe, I’d recommend getting a paid Proton account. I’ve heard too many stories about Google locking people out of their accounts with no way to get back in. For peace of mind, consider paying $10 a month for Proton Unlimited…
ProtonMail is the best option if you value privacy and want an encrypted email. Gmail is the best for daily tasks and easy connection with other apps. For sensitive correspondence, use ProtonMail; for other purposes, use Gmail.
Much rather use Gmail than Proton. for a plethora of reasons.
The largest, though, is how disorganised I am.
Compared to Proton, Gmail searches through older emails incredibly quickly.
