Best payroll software for small business?

What do you think would be the best payroll service for small businesses with fewer than 10 employees? I’m looking for some recommendations.

I’ve been checking out ADP and Paychex since I have 4 W2 employees and a 1099 contractor. Honestly, I think it should be pretty straightforward for us because we just need a service that can 1) send direct deposits and 2) generate detailed pay stubs for tax calculations.

What’s your experience with these services? Which one do you think is the best? Or would you recommend using payroll software instead?

I’d recommend looking into gusto it’s so perfect for small teams and covers everything, am so easy with it keep my thing organized and run them smoothly

ADP was terrible for me. Terrible service. The common theme was to always call someone else when there were issues that needed resolving. If you want a service with one point of contact, ADP is not it.

QuickBooks Payroll is another solid option for small businesses. It integrates smoothly with their accounting software, which can be really helpful for managing both payroll and bookkeeping in one place. Definitely worth considering!

While ADP and Paychex are popular, I’d recommend looking into some open-source payroll software. They offer the same functionalities at a lower cost, especially for businesses with smaller teams like yours.

gusto is more affordable for smaller teams no doubt but u might check other services as well

We had the best experience with QuickBooks Payroll. It integrates well with QuickBooks Time, so you can use it as a time clock, or you can manually input hours or import them from other software. On the other hand, I wouldn’t recommend ADP. If an issue arises, it usually takes a lot more effort, sometimes 2-3 times more, to resolve, and their service overall wasn’t great.

I used QuickBooks with QuickBooks Payroll a while back, and it worked really well for me.

We used gusto and loved it. Really simple to setup and use
