Anything like Picasa?

I really miss Picasa… I’ve been trying to find a good alternative every now and then, but I just can’t seem to find anything that clicks. I’m specifically looking for something for Windows to help me manage my photos.

I want a program that lets me browse my photos in a meaningful way, preferably with facial recognition or at least manual tagging for people and themes. It would be great if it could also show where the photos were taken on a map and let me search by location.

I don’t mind paying for a good option, but I’d rather buy it outright than deal with expensive ongoing licenses. Any suggestions?

I never used Picasa, but I think digikam might check some of your boxes.

I totally get it, I’m in the same boat! I currently use DigiKam, but it’s a bit more advanced and definitely has a learning curve. If you’re okay with self-hosting, you might want to check out Immich. It could be a good alternative, and it even has a phone app.

I still use Picasa. Why did you stop?

You should check out PhotoPrism, the free community edition might be just what you’re looking for.
