I’ve got a huge PNG file that’s 7168x11008 and 109MB, and another one that’s 16000x8000 with lots of solid and flat colors. I need something that can automatically optimize these images by compressing them without losing too much quality.
I know there are programs for bulk resizing and converting, but I’m looking for one that can analyze and optimize the image to get the best balance between quality and file size. I’ve manually optimized black and white comics before, but I’m dealing with hundreds or thousands of images now, so I need something that can handle this process automatically. Any recommendations?
So basically, I am looking for a way to store and optimize a bunch of images that I might use later. If the images have some noise that needs cleaning up, I’d like to run them through a resizing algorithm that’s good at removing noise without ruining the image. It’s been a while since I’ve looked into these, so I’m not up to date on the best ones right now…
I use XNView MP to batch convert and apply filters like Enhance Focus for better quality at a smaller size. It takes some tweaking but works well for web publishing. Just remember to keep your high-quality originals backed up somewhere safe!
If you don’t mind losing some pixel quality, you can convert the image to JPEG or WebP and lower the quality setting as much as possible. For really large images like 10,000 pixels wide, it’s probably better to just resize them instead.
