I’ve had a few hard drives fail recently, costing me a ton of time and work. To avoid this, I back up all my drives to a large internal HDD so if one fails, I still have another copy.
I do backups every couple of weeks using AOMEI Backupper’s free version. It creates and restores disk images, but I can’t pull specific files from these images without paying a lot for the pro version. I don’t want to have to fully restore an image to get files out.
Can anyone recommend free backup software that:
Can back up a full disk to an image file
Lets me explore and extract files from the image easily
I suggest Veeam, It satisfies all of your needs. It is also free to restore, even file-based. It has been working well for me for a few years now. saved me more than once.
For what you need, I’d recommend Uranium Backup. It’s known for being reliable and handling backups and recovery well. If you’re looking for something totally free, Macrium Reflect Free or AOMEI Backupper Standard (with some limits) might work. But if you’re after advanced features and solid support, Uranium Backup is a great choice. Plus, it has a trial period so you can try it out before committing.
All of it is Uranium Backup, minus the free part. The benefit is that you simply have to pay once and receive the simplest backup solution. It has served us well for years and has never let us down…
