Looking for free media player that can play episode after episode

I’m looking for a free media player for Windows 10 that can play episodes and seasons of TV shows in order. For example, I have “The Nanny” with files like “Season 1,” “Season 2,” etc. I want the player to automatically move from one episode to the next and keep track of where I left off. It would be great if the player also lets me control it with voice commands and a spare cellphone on the same Wi-Fi network. I’m setting up a media PC and need something easy to use.

No program will let you control it with voice commands right out of the box.

But PotPlayer can help with your episode list. When you open an episode, it can automatically create a list of other episodes with the same naming format.

Try Plex. You can use the app to play content on your smart TV for free. Plex also offers premium features with a subscription or a one-time Lifetime Plex Pass. But for what you need, the free version should be enough. Plus, you can watch from anywhere or share videos with friends and family online.

Chuck EMBY in here as well…

I am trying to setup this as simpley as possible. I do have several TV Shows setup with Kodi settings currently but I want to tinker with the files I want 1 external hard drive for TV Shows and 1 for Movies and 1 for Anime. And I have noticed its hard to find and setup the information for Anime Shows and Movies with some programs. Like TV Show renamer programs and movie renamer programs. So I plan to remove all the anime from the Kodi and just do Movies and TV Shows currently. And then just do something else for Anime later on. But for now I have been wondering how to use the cellphone as a remote and how to find the TV Shows and Movies I have on the hard drives on the desktop pc. So is there a way to simpley setup the Kodi to search for the files on the pc with the cellphone. Or is there other apps I need to setup first. I’m still new to kodi so that is why I am wondering. Plus if I can’t do it with voice on the phone is there a way to connect the Onn plug or a alexa to use it that way. All are on the same Wi-Fi.

I use MPC-BE from the Windows store. You can drop multiple videos into its playlist, and it’ll play them one after another. It also remembers where it left off even after you restart your PC. There’s no voice control, so I just use a wireless keyboard.

yoh, why not use VLC… it works

I have been using VLC for years but I don’t know how to make it play episode after episode…

Kodi is great for TV media. Just point it to your files, tell it if they’re TV shows or movies, and you’re all set.
