Gyazo recently changed their GIF capture so that their logo shows up at the end of every GIF unless you pay for a subscription.
I’m looking for a screen capture tool that can make MP4s or GIFs of about 7 seconds at 30+ fps.
I’ve heard good things about ShareX, but I’ve had trouble getting the file size down to something reasonable. For example, Gyazo let me save a 7-second GIF at around 5 MB, but with ShareX, it’s always over 100 MB, even after tweaking the video encoding settings and switching to x265.
I can confirm that. I recorded 12 seconds of switching between windows, highlighting text, and opening an image, and the file is just 2.17 MB. Something’s definitely off.
You might want to try ScreenToGif or Kap—they’re both free, open-source, and let you customize things. If you prefer sticking with ShareX, make sure you’re using a good codec like H.264 or H.265 (x265). You can also reduce the bitrate and resolution, lower the FPS if you don’t need super smooth animation, or export the GIF as a WebM or MP4.
