For my final year project at university, I need to research code-switching in a movie. It’s going alright, but I have to include the full transcript of the film in my references.
I could use a regular transcript app, but this movie has both English and Malay. Does anyone know of any transcript apps that work on a laptop and can handle conversations that mix two languages?
Does your professor have any tips or resources for making the transcript?
Can you find a script for the movie or subtitle files to grab the dialogue from?
Including the whole transcript of a movie seems like a lot to ask, especially for single-language films, unless you’ve got some guidance on how to create it.
I asked and I’m still waiting for a response.
The movie uses two languages I’m familiar with, so I could just wing it and write the script manually, pretending it’s a transcript.
It’s still a transcript even if you do it manually. What are your classmates doing??
Most of us do movies or music videos.
And I’m definitely not touching the latter.
No, I mean how are they transcribing their media?
Some people use apps like Otter.ai or something similar. I tried it, and it’s not great for Malay, but it’s not terrible either. I was thinking of using it as a backup option.
