Can you recommend a program for screenshots?

I’m looking for a program that lets me easily take screenshots and add arrows (like “look here”) and some text.

I’ve found plenty of software that kind of does that, but none of them are really easy to use.

What I need is something where I can press a button (or combo of buttons), select an arrow/text tool, add my arrows or text, and save the image. Basically, it shouldn’t be much harder than using Win+Shift+S or opening the snipping tool.

I did find one program like that, but I don’t trust it. By default, the free version saves screenshots to the cloud, which raises the question: “Who’s paying for that?”

I don’t mind paying for a program like this, but I prefer it to be open source.

you can probably go for Flameshot

I totally agree! I recently started using FlameShot, and it works great. It’s got a clean interface, tons of options for editing and adding annotations, and you can customize all the shortcuts you need. And best of all, it’s free!

wow… just installed that… sweet program

ShareX lets you set up a workflow just like the one you’re looking for.

Thank you! It’s awesome!

Literally the number one app I miss on Linux

You can set custom shortcuts for all the tools it has. For example, I’ve got the OCR tool set to Ctrl + Alt + X.
