Audacity replacement

looking for alternatives to Audacity that can use VSTs. Just to clarify, I’m specifically interested in an audio editor, not a DAW.

What options are available? I’m not considering DAWs like Reaper, Bitwig, Renoise, or Ardour. Ideally, I’d prefer free and open-source software, but I’m open to paid options if they’re really worth it.

Adobe Audition? Sound Forge? What is it with Audacity that you don’t like?

I like Audacity, but I’m not a fan of its VST implementation, although it’s not a major concern. It seems like everyone does audio editing in DAWs these days, and I haven’t come across a standout alternative to Audacity for standalone audio editors.

There’s Acoustica, but it comes with a pretty hefty price tag.

Audacity does support VST plugins, specifically VST effects, but it doesn’t yet support VST instruments. In my opinion, VST instruments aren’t really necessary for editing existing audio since they’re more about generating sound rather than modifying it.

If your VST effects aren’t working in Audacity, it might be due to an incorrect installation. Keep in mind that the VST plugin installer might not recognize Audacity, which means it may not place the necessary files in the right folders for the application to use.

thanks…I am aware of Audacity’s VST capacity.
